Today, little has changed. Day Island remains a small isolated community tucked away from the city.(Read the Canoe story) At the south end stands the Willits brother’s canoe factory with wonderful memories still locked inside amongst the tools, jigs and frames used to build their dreams; classic canoes.

For decades the little island community served the Willits brothers well. For nearly 60 years, over 900 canoes were built, tested in the salt water bay behind the factory, crated and shipped to canoe enthusiasts around the world.

The Canoe game begins where the Willits brothers left off. The game board is simple, with straight lines defining the playing field. Coats of rich varnish highlight the dark mahogany grain. Playing cubes are black and ivory, hand-inked reflecting old-world charm.

You will find the rules of the game and Canoe’s concept easy to grasp. As you play on, layers of strategy will surface challenging your every move. Canoe is great to play at home with family or friends as well as the perfect traveling companion. One thing for certain, you will soon learn that each game beckons another.

Game Boards: There are currently four exclusive styles to choose from beginning with my original classic mahogany veneered board. In 2005 a very handsome American cherry board hit the scene. In 2006 we added three new hardwood species; American cherry, American walnut and eastern hard rock maple. All three boards (cherry, walnut and maple) are made, using solid strips of hardwood. Each strip is sized, then vertically laminated into place, guaranteeing Canoe owners dimensional stability and lasting beauty. Also in 2006, I designed and produced a new leather edition which we call The MVP. This board is made from a supple, russet, top grain cowhide. It has been billed as the ultimate "go anywhere, play anytime" travel game.

Registration: Each Canoe game carries a registration number. Numbers are hammered into the edge of the game board using the same style ½” steel die that numbered the Willits Bros. canoes.

Game Cubes: 14 (27mm) Tumbled. Each hand-inked with rounded corners.

Dice: 2 (sets) Black and ivory. Standard six sided w/eased edges.

Game Parts Bag: Each hardwood game comes with a canvas parts bag (7 ½ x 7 ½ “) w/leather Canoe label and closure. Note: The MVP leather edition comes with a matching leather parts case and strap.
